Instant Snapshot of Data - Create immediate copies of data with minimal disruption to applications - extremely useful for backing up data without impacting performance or availability of the production systems. Also ideal for creating multiple test copies of data so several applications can process different models and simulations simultaneously. Point-in-time snapshots are generated using "copy-on-write" technology. Snapshots may also be triggered from the Volume ShadowCopy Service (VSS) in Windows Server 2003 hosts attached to the disk server.
