Digital LibraryUnder a contract with US Air Force, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Loyola Enterprises has developed and is implementing processes for converting all existing environmental documentation into a digital format. The process is supported by Loyola personnel who take all forms of document media, i.e. hardcopy reports, forms, word processing digital, images, etc. and convert these media into a digital format which is then loaded into an Oracle database. Hardcopy reports, charts, maps, letters, bound documents, etc. are prepared and scanned into a digital format using high performance scanners provided to the Air Force by Loyola. Large format documents, i.e. maps, foldouts, etc. are scanned in using scanners which are capable of handling up to E-size media. Much of the scanned documentation must be searchable and must go through an Optical Character Recognition process to convert the scanned images to text. The data is then reposited into an Oracle database, and archive copies are maintained on CDROM and DVD media. DVD media is currently used due to the high density of data that can be stored on each disk, and is desirable due to the growing availability of DVD readers in mid-range desktop, and many laptop computers. Loyola can provide a component or total solution to your data archiving needs, and we are currently providing the solution that the US Air Force has selected. We have the trained staff, resources, process map, and experience to quickly and cost effectively support your organization. |
