How do I get foam off of my hands?

If the foam has not cured or hardened, use acetone or fingernail polish remover (with acetone). If the foam has hardened, there is no solvent that will remove it. It will not harm your skin and will wear off in several days. To remove cured foam from skin, use a pumice stone (available at most drug stores) and warm, soapy water. Then apply petroleum jelly to soften skin.

How do I get foam off the side of a house?

If the foam has not cured or hardened, use acetone or fingernail polish remover (with acetone). There is no solvent that will remove cured polyurethane foam. Remove as much as possible with a dull scraper or a hacksaw blade and then try scrubbing the remaining film with a non-abrasive cleaner. If that does not work, gradually move up to more aggressive means including sanding, sandblasting and repainting.

How much foam is in a can of GREAT STUFF™ Pro?

The theoretical yield of one-component foam is measured in lineal feet of a 3/8" - 1/2" diameter bead. The 24 oz. can of GREAT STUFF PRO has approximately 1,000 lineal feet.

Can I insulate walls with GREAT STUFF PRO?

GREAT STUFF PRO sealants are designed to fill cracks and gaps. The foam does not cure properly if it is used to fill large voids unless it is put down in layers and allowed to cure before the next layer is applied. Do not use GREAT STUFF PRO to fill enclosed voids such as behind drywall or under tub surrounds.

How can I store GREAT STUFF PRO if I don't use the whole can?

GREAT STUFF PRO straw foam will seal itself shut if left to sit for more than two hours after its last use. If using GREAT STUFF PRO products with the gun applicator, the valve can be closed allowing you to re-use the can up to 30 days or longer.

What are the temperature limitations when using GREAT STUFF PRO?

When using GREAT STUFF PRO products, the recommended temperature range is between 25 degrees Fahrenheit and 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can I use GREAT STUFF PRO to air seal electrical receptacles?

GREAT STUFF PRO can be used around and behind electrical boxes and insulated wires, but should never be used inside a box where it may be exposed to bare copper wires.

How are latex products different from GREAT STUFF PRO?

There are three key differences between latex foam and GREAT STUFF PRO, which are polyurethane foams:

• Latex foams are typically "open celled" and, as a result, can take on water. In fact, the same properties that allow you to wash latex foam off your hands with water also mean that the cured foam can absorb water. This can cause wood rot or deterioration in areas where wet latex foam is next to wood, such as a window frame. In contrast, GREAT STUFF PRO are closed-cell foams. They form a water-resistant outer coating when cured.
• Latex foam does not expand. GREAT STUFF PRO expands to thoroughly fill all voids and cavities making it an ideal air-sealant.
• Latex foam can be cleaned or removed with water. GREAT STUFF PRO while still in the wet, uncured state can be removed with acetone. Once cured, GREAT STUFF PRO is permanent.

Does GREAT STUFF PRO come in other colors?

GREAT STUFF PRO Gaps & Cracks is orange color to identify it as a fireblock material. GREAT STUFF PRO Window & Door is yellow. All may be painted after they are fully cured.

Can mice, insects or rodents chew through GREAT STUFF PRO?

Mice, raccoons and large pests, if determined enough, can chew though many materials, including GREAT STUFF PRO. When a barrier is needed for large pests, it is recommended a wire mesh be installed and GREAT STUFF PRO applied generously on both sides of the mesh. For smaller insects and bugs, GREAT STUFF PRO alone typically serves as an effective barrier.

Are GREAT STUFF PRO products ozone friendly?

GREAT STUFF PRO does not contribute to the depletion of ozone.

Can I use GREAT STUFF PRO as a firestop material?

GREAT STUFF PRO is not approved as a firestop material. However, GREAT STUFF PRO is approved as a fireblock material.

Can GREAT STUFF PRO be used outdoors?

Yes, GREAT STUFF PRO can be used outdoors. However, cured foam will discolor if exposed to ultraviolet light. Paint or coat foam for best results in outdoor applications.

What is the difference between GREAT STUFF and GREAT STUFF PRO products?

• Size of cans.

• GREAT STUFF PRO has been evaluated and listed as a fireblock material.

Do you have any tips on using GREAT STUFF PRO Guns?

Pro GREAT STUFF PRO Tool Applicator Tips:

• Shake can vigorously for one minute before attaching it to the foam applicator gun.
• Invert can and screw onto adapter of the foam applicator tool.
• Adjust flow control screw on back of foam applicator gun to an open position. Press trigger to fill the applicator gun with foam while dispensing into an appropriate waste receptacle.
• Keep can inverted during use.
• Open or close flow control screw on foam applicator gun to adjust bead size.
• Clean gun periodically with GREAT STUFF PRO Gun Cleaner (approximately every 12 to 24 cans used). Rub end of tool on soft wood to free it from foam. Never use sharp object on end of gun.
• When not in use, always leave a can of foam attached to the gun, being sure that the flow control screw at the back of the gun is completely closed.
• When changing cans of foam, use GREAT STUFF PRO Gun Cleaner to use as a spray to uncured foam.
• Never leave a foam applicator gun without a can of foam attached unless it has been thoroughly cleaned with GREAT STUFF PRO Gun Cleaner.
• Never leave a can of GREAT STUFF PRO Gun Cleaner attached to a foam applicator gun over time. Always store the gun with a can of foam attached.
