Description:
Take technical direction from the Senior System Administrator for work assignments and overall requirements.
Will work independently or with other administrators to build operating systems (OS) and application servers and workstations to support
Joint Warfighting Center (JWFC) modeling and simulation (M&S) systems used to conduct joint training at the operational level of war.
Install patches and upgrades to OS for Linux and Sun Solaris UNIX systems and Windows platforms.
Required to perform system security lockdowns as required by JWFC ADP Security Officer to include troubleshooting and isolation of problems that are created during installation.
Assist in isolation and troubleshooting of operating systems, installing applications, and providing solutions to operational problems.
Builds, operates and manages mail, web and data file severs used during training exercises and events at JWFC.
May be required to write procedures and programs to automate repetitive processes.
Needs to be capable of compiling and installing applications required by the customer.

Required Skills:
Must have 2 years experience with Samba, NIS, DNS, network file systems, web and mail servers.
Candidate needs experience with the creation and maintenance of user accounts to include the limitation of capability and access.
Also, they need experience with network security to include firewalls and virus protection software.
Must have experience with the resolution of problems related to hardware and software, both application and operating systems.

Preferred Skills:
Experience with the installation and management of Oracle(Version 9 and 10.)
Knowledge of modeling and simulations systems used by US military.
Experience with networks to include 10/100/1000 Ethernet, IP addressing schemes, and VLANs.
Experience with DISA Gold Disk and STIGS. May be required to travel 10 to 20 percent.

Education:
Must have a CS, MIS or similar degree or 3 to 5 years of systems administration experience
on at least two of the following computer operating systems: Linux (RedHat Enterprise, SUSE, or Fedora), Windows, Solaris, UNIX or HP-UX.
